In our last blog we talked about self-love as it applies to new year’s resolutions. In this blog post, we will talk about fun self-care ideas that just might involve ice cream. As we talked about in the previous blog post, the conception of self-care is a relatively new, primarily millennial term. But, it’s something anyone can, and should, partake in. Self care is a part of self love that basically entails giving yourself time, rejuvenation, love, introspection and more. Life, especially these days, is so fast-paced and hectic. And while self care can be a part of regular life- like saving money, paying your bills, working hard at your job, most people choose to focus on and document the more fun parts of self care, obviously.

There are a lot of different examples of self care, because there are a lot of ways in which people like to escape the world. However, it’s important to note that another part of self care, the more mundane part, like we discussed, is creating a life that you don’t want to take breaks from all the time. You should be able to enjoy your career, life, friendships, romances, whatever 2018 has in store for you! But hard times are inevitable in this life, and when they strike you should have a few tricks up your sleeve to help yourself feel better. Self care is as individualistic as the concept of self. So whoever you are and whatever comprises you, there is a self care routine that is best for you. You should know that you don’t have to be rich or have to be anything really, to engage in proper self care and love. You just have to have the mindfulness to create expressions of self love for yourself. Some ideas include: starting a compliments file, engaging in your to-do list, go cloud watching, goof around and just laugh either with yourself or others, de-clutter a room or space you often use, get out of your comfort zone, take a break from social media or unfollow negative people (this may conflict with the idea that you have to share your self care rituals via your social networking forums), create a habit that’s good for you like going to the gym, pay attention to an activity that you usually do without thinking (eating, etc), take a different route to work, your gym, or somewhere else you regularly visit, or develop a deep breathing routine.

Another part of self care is doing things you don’t necessarily need to, but deserve to do. This is the art of treating yourself. Many people treat themselves with a spa day, many with a glass of wine, many with a mini-vacation.
